Student Life

Georgetown University brings together students, faculty and staff with a wide range of interests and backgrounds. Our diverse learning environment provides inspiration to serve others and engage in campus and civic life. Classroom learning is supplemented by students' personal growth and development achieved through activities and programs.

  • Student Affairs
    The Division of Student Affairs provides programs and services to support students and enrich their learning experience at Georgetown. Learning takes place in all parts of students’ lives and is centered in their academic experiences. This learning is enriched by their living environments and their engagement in a wide range of co-curricular pursuits – from community service to athletics and from student government to the performing arts. An array of services is also there to support students – to assure their health and wellness, assist with their career development, and meet a variety of personal and academic needs. Working with our faculty and staff colleagues, Student Affairs strives to create a vibrant campus community.

  • Office of Student Conduct
    The Office of Student Conduct is responsible for administering the student discipline system. All Georgetown students are expected to adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the Code of Student Conduct. Formal charges and complaints, as well as any inquires concerning the student discipline system and student discipline records, should be directed to this office. The Office also offers mediation services.

  • Women's Center
    The Women's Center (GUWC) provides women students, faculty and staff with an array of programs and services designed to meet their needs, concerns and interests including women and spirituality, self-defense training classes, and counseling and referral information. The Women's Center supports, educates and empowers women of all cultures, races, sexual orientations, and ages by providing a safe environment while respecting all facets of women's abilities, spirituality and differences.

  • Center for Student Programs
    The Center for Student Programs (CSP) provides support to over 130 different student organizations at Georgetown. In addition, CSP coordinates New Student Orientation, Leadership Development, Outdoor Education, Off-Campus Student Life, and Georgetown University Class Committees.

  • Center for Social Justice
    Service to others and work for social justice are hallmarks of Georgetown's approach to education. The Center for Social Justice (CSJ) provides a range of opportunities for students to get involved  including direct service in under-resourced communities, community-based research, and curricular offerings that allow a student to link work in the community with academic study.

  • Center for Minority Equity and Access
    The Center for Minority Equity and Access (CMEA) promotes educational excellence and racial equality at Georgetown University by serving the interests of African American, Latino, Asian Pacific American and Native American students.

  • Gervase Programs
    The Gervase Programs is a diverse collection of programs dedicated to enhancing intellectual life on campus and includes the Carroll Fellows Initiative, the Office of the Fellowship Secretary, GUROP, and the Undergraduate Honor Council. Specifically, the Carroll Fellows Initiative (CFI) helps develop tomorrow's leaders through a unique curriculum, research opportunities and the fostering of entrepreneurial independence. The Georgetown Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (GUROP) allows students and professors to work together (~70 hours/semester) on engaging research projects related to the faculty's research interests. Research assistants will develop specific research skills and gain a better understanding of the nature of research enterprise. The Undergraduate Honor Council is the principal administrative body of the Honor System and expects all members of the academic community, students, and faculty to strive for excellence in scholarship and in character. Finally, the Office of Fellowship Secretary identifies and recruits highly motivated and accomplished students who are interested in application to the most highly competitive national and international fellowships and scholarships including the Fulbright, the Rhodes, the Marshall, the Mitchell, the Truman and the Gates.

  • LGBTQ  Resource Center
    The Director for LGBTQ  Resource Center provides assistance for LGBTQ student organizations, such as Outspoken and PRIDE. The director also acts as a general liaison between the student community and the university on LGBTQ issues.

  • Athletics
    The University offers 27 intercollegiate programs for men and women, competing in the Big East Conference (Patriot League for football, and Mid Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association in Sailing). The Athletic program provides students with the opportunity to excel athletically and academically at the highest level while furthering the formation of character and of fostering future leaders in society.

  • Intramurals
    The Intramural Sports Program at Georgetown University provides all student and non-student members of the Yates Field House with an opportunity to compete in an intraumural programs designed for fun and fitness. The Intramural Sports Department takes a great deal of pride in offering each participant a quality program in a wide variety of sports. All members of the Field House may register to participate in the Intramural program. All full-time students receive membership to Yates.

  • Club Sports
    The Center for Student Programs supports 18 club teams in a wide variety of sports, ranging from rugby to water polo.
